Neither one of the two available options makes him a credible dealer to do business with. He either doesn't know what he is talking about, or deliberately tells lies. I don't like to say this, but MT Shooter is out of his depth, and also integrity as a professional. It seems that Dire studios also offers a solution that works. It works just fine on my newly acquired EOS 80D and claims support for the 5DIV. Downloaded from the main site I have found it to be malware free (yes, I test downloads). It is not free, roughly $5 for each camera with unlimited use. Yes, it comes from China - as do many good things (not all), but if you want a shutter count on a Canon camera this will do it accurately.

I also read that Canon introduced firmware limitations in its newest cameras so that the shutter actuation reading is not supported any more.Įasy peasy! And our self appointed expert - a so called professional but simply a backwoods Nikon fanboy, MT Shooter doesn't know what he is talking about! Many of the programs online, and in previous threads, do not work with the digic 6 processor. I don't know if they can alctually read the count of a particular camera.ĭoes anyone know if it is possible to find out the number of shutter actuations for a 5D Mark IV? (I use a Windows OS). The seemed to only list expected shutter counts for various models. I already have eosmsg and eosinfo which I use for older bodies. I'll try and get in touch with them to see if they have a newer version for Windows.

“Shuttercount” app from Apple for Mac $1.99 Since my camera is less than 6 months old, I don't really think it needs this service.Īccording to the list on their site, these are the Canon cameras supported for shutter count.Ĭanon EOS 1DS Mark II, Canon EOS 1DS Mark II, Canon EOS 5D, Canon EOS 60D, Canon EOS-1D, Canon EOS-1D Mark II, Canon EOS-1D Mark II N, Canon EOS-1Ds, Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II !ut/p/z1/04_Sj9CPykssy0xPLMnMz0vMAfIjo8zifQM9LDw8nQ18DH圜nQwcA0xDXdydzfzNPMz0w8EKDHAARwP9KGL041EQhd_4cP0oNCuCLM0NHM1czDws_ZwMzHzN8SvwDDTFUBDmZAJUYOnibGzkBrIGqgCPKwpyQyMMMj3TAQ4v-5E!/#eosdigitalslr When I checked with Canon, they said they could tell me the shutter count only as part of a $129 maintenance service. As far as Canon being so secret about their shutter counts, that's a mystery to me.Purchased a used 5D a few months ago and wanted to. I can say their customer service is the best, they actually call you to discuss.

My camera arrived there yesterday, being the weekend I haven't heard anything yet. I have used Canon in New Jersey before for other bodies I have never had an issue.

Being a 12 year old Camera I agreed with the cleaning, which it probably needs because of its age. Emailed Canon and they said they would give me the shutter count at no charge BUT suggested a cleaning. Tried a few of the programs suggested with no success. Purchased a used 5D a few months ago and wanted to know the shutter count as an FYI, the camera works fine.
